Location and history

Stargard Szczeciński is located in West Pomerania, east-southeast of the regional capital Szczecin. The city is located on both sides of the river Ina, a right tributary to Odra.
The building on the site dates back to the 8th-9th year. The city gained market town rights in 1243. During the fighting that freed Stargard from the Germans in 1945, large parts of the city burned down.
