The town of Wadowice (about 20,000 inhabitants) is located on the river Skawa, 18 km south of its outlet in Wisła. The city is first mentioned in documents from 1327. After a fire in 1430, the city was rebuilt. From 1772-1918 Wadowice belonged under Austria.
